Congratulations to our school Gaelic Football team who defeated Gaelscoil today in a thrilling game played in St. John’s Park. Both teams deserve huge credit in a game that produced no fewer than nine goals! Our boys won out on a scoreline of 5-4 to 4-5. The high level of skill on show combined with a never say die attitude from all of the players on view meant that the game was in the balance right up until the final whistle. The result means that C.B.S. will now play St. Canice’s in the county final on Saturday, December 3rd. Our school is extremely proud of the boys and we are all looking forward to the final. Well done boys!!! Our school took part in our first Active Schools Week from April 25th-29th. It was a memorable week for all in the school community. The boys had an opportunity to try out a wide range of activities including hip-hop dancing, badminton, tug-of-war, sprocket rocket cycling, soccer, pitch and putt, tennis, rounders and athletics. We also ran a whole school marathon! Active travel took place each morning. We enjoyed an extra special “Wake Up Wednesday” when the Kilkenny hurlers Joe Lyng, Chris Bolger and our own Mr. Prendergast joined us to “Run a Mile with a Smile”! Our hectic week of activities concluded on Friday 29th with a “Sport for All” Day. The Active School Committee would like to thank parents, coaches and teachers who contributed to a hugely successful and enjoyable week.
