Last year we successfully achieved our first Green Flag for our tremendous work on managing and improving litter and waste in our school. We, as a school reduced the amount of waste going to land- fill by an impressive 63%. This year our Green Schools’ Committee is reformed and working on our second theme which is ‘Energy’, with the intention of securing our second green flag.
To this end our aim is to conserve energy and reduce our E.S.B. bills. Our 6th Class pupils are very busy recording daily meter readings, while all individual classes are committed to saving energy. Each class has an eco- monitor to ensure this is done.
Our pupils will soon be able to get back out into the school garden and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the spring bulbs they planted earlier in the year. As April is National Spring Clean month, our school will be doing our bit to make a special effort to increase awareness of the importance of keeping the school’s surrounds clean and tidy.
